They’re everywhere

I had thought of titling this post For you Scott but sometimes humour doesn’t translate to the web as well. The other day we had a great email thread about F units in particular and cab units in general. Seems among our operating group we are not all fans of them. Well, for the folks who still dig them I wanted to share some more great LIRR finds from Youtube.

In all of the above the cab units are literally only shells. They have all had their traction motors removed and while still equipped with diesel engines, the engines are now used to power electrical generators for train “hotel” power (lights, heat, etc.). These are used in push-pull service so they retain their cabs as well.

This was just neat to watch. That’s busy.
