GO Transit Rolling Stock Timeline

Hi. Based on some new information gleaned from the excellent Canadian Public Transit Board GO Transit Wiki I started a timeline for GO’s passenger equipment and thought I’d share it here. I have left the cars grouped by their order and will soon break this out to individual cars. I’ve added in counts of cars and percent of fleet. Note that the percents are seperate: one for the single-levels and a second for the bi-levels.

  1. Quick comment about your chart Chris…

The Series 1 BiLevels are still in service today. 16 were sold off (actually, more than that) in 1998, although 5 were traded back in 1999, and the 6th bought back that year.

As well, the majority of the single-level cars were stored upon delivery of the Series 1 BiLevels in 1978. That’s why so many of them were leased to Boston (twice) and Washington.
