Jim Taylor posted this note on several Atlantic Canadian railway forums this morning:
“Was taking to my buddy today who is a supervisor at Fundy Gypsum . They announced yesterday they will be shutting down the mines indefinitely.
This will be the end for the railway, as their sole purpose to exist is the Mines. Subsidy will most likely come to and end when their contract expires.
I guess we need to document and photo all we can now.
Bad new for the Valley and us foamers”
Once again I am reminded of how valuable “now” is. Not just for railroading but in this case, it’s true too. With this news comes the final chapter for the Dominion Atlantic Railway and a stark reminder of how valuable it is to do things before it’s too late.
