It’s kind of ironic that people will spend upwards of $100 on the purchase of a quality locomotive (just one? are you kidding?) and refuse to dish out a few extra bucks to realize the full potential of their new toy with a great throttle.
That great commment is from Ken Singleton on his website. I read it while researching electronics designs for walkaround throttles. The page itself where the quote is from is for Ken’s 851 Hand Held Throttle. The throttle itself is a regular DC throttle and uses pulse-width modulation (PWM) to control the trains. I had intended to build one but when I started pricing out the parts it occured to me that Ken’s price of only $40USD to buy one already built is a much better deal. I orderd one yesterday and am really hoping it’s here by the end of the week. I can’t wait to try it out on the layout.
