The mail has been really good to me lately and today’s brought my copy of Trains, September 1963. It is really neat to flip through this copy. The obvious star is the PEI article. That said the magazine had some neat insights into railroading in the early sixties. It’s fascinating to think that when if was published everything was current and the authors were writing about things in the present tense.
I think it’s fun to imagine what it would have been like to have picked up this issue when it was new. Imagine coming across the article and planning a trip to the Island to see it all in person. Imagine arriving in Borden to be greater by the boat train with it’s H12-44 at the helm. I only know this scene in photos and memories and would love to have seen this all first hand.
