Clay for paving – first impressions

So here’s the first section paved. I enjoyed using the Crayola Air Dry Clay. The clay itself is water soluable and I wish I had kept a cup of water nearby to make the clay a little, especially for carving out the flangeways. I was curious to see if the clay would shrink much, and it did.

So here’s what I’m going to try next:

  • Still going to press the clay into the track area with my finger. Heck it just worked well.
  • I am going to make a flange clearing tool. Nothing fancy but maybe something to aid in the paving profile between the rails.
  • I may try carving some bricks in. Maybe.

So far so good. I had fun and I’m looking forward to trying it all out with some cars soon!
