Water valve “in” the track?

These spurs run tight beside a public road. The area around is busy with buildings and there’s little room for public utiilities. This water valve was placed almost inside the track. It’s another detail I’ve never seen on another spur. Might be something to include on my layout. Sure would be easy to model.

While uploading this photo, I was also struck by how well it captured the various colours and textures that make up the track along this spur. Granted it was an overcast afternoon when I took these photos, but it’s worth considering these elements when detailing, painting, weathering. etc. our model track. If modelling a prototype area I think it’s really important to get out and take some photos along the line to capture the type of ballast used and how the prototype track looks in its setting.
